Jack and Jill Video Production

The main story of this video is about two Jacks. It started on one sunny day. Jack was waiting for his friend which I call other Jack. It was so hot that day and they were perspiring. Other Jack ask for water but unfortunately the mineral water was empty. So they find a drum of mineral water at the small hill nearby. They walk and walk to the small hill, it was starting to get dark when they arrived. Upon reaching the hill, other Jack fetch some mineral water and to his surprise a mysterious girl grab her arm. So afraid he starting to punch it and then Jack notice that his friend is in danger so he help out. And finally the other Jack was set free and the mysterious girl went out of the drum of mineral water. So afraid on what they seen the two of them ran and tumbling down the small hill.

Well for me, I realized that it was hard to take the scenes because of some factors that affects the shooting. Some of these factors are like children walking and people roaming around, also it was hard to capture the right lighting. But it was a challenge for me to edit this video because of the fact that I'm still not familiar with adobe premiere.

Blog Entry #1: Digital Video Evolution and Background

Digital video was first introduced commercially in 1986 with the Sony D-1 format, which recorded an uncompressed standard definition component video signal in digital form instead of the high-band analog forms that had been commonplace until then. Due to the expense, D-1 was used primarily by large television networks. It would eventually be replaced by cheaper systems using compressed data, most notably Sony’s Digital Betacam, still heavily used as a field recording format by professional television producers. Consumer digital video first appeared in the form of QuickTime, Apple Computer’s architecture for time-based and streaming data formats, which appeared in crude form around 1990. Initial consumer-level content creation tools were crude, requiring an analog video source to be digitized to a computer-readable format. While low-quality at first, consumer digital video increased rapidly in quality, first with the introduction of playback standards such as MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 (adopted for use in television transmission and DVD media), and then the introduction of the DV tape format allowing recording direct to digital data and simplifying the editing process, allowing non-linear editing systems to be deployed wholly on desktop computers. Digital video is constantly changing due to the fact that the technology today is improving everyday. To meet the expectations of the people the service provider that creates this digital video are also improving. The technology greatly affects the improvement of Digital video, the more the technology is high the better the quality. Also there are competition between service providers so the higher the capacity and faster bandwidth the more better the service. So necessary upgrade is need to meet this requirements that is why it is constantly changing.

The History of television technology can be divided along two lines: those developments that depended upon both mechanical and electronic principles, and those which are purely electronic. From the latter descended all modern televisions, but these would not have been possible without discoveries and insights from the mechanical systems. Practically every country in the world now has developed at least one television channel. The first live transcontinental television broadcast took place in San Francisco, California from the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference on September 4, 1951. In 1958, the CBC completed the longest television network in the world, from Sydney, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia. Reportedly, the first continuous live broadcast of a breaking news story in the world was conducted by the CBC during the Springhill Mining Disaster which began on October 23 of that year. Programming is broadcast on television stations (sometimes called channels). At first, terrestrial broadcasting was the only way television could be distributed. Because bandwidth was limited, government regulation was normal. In the U.S., the Federal Communications Commission in 1941 allowed stations to broadcast advertisements, but insisted on public service programming commitments as a requirement for a license. By contrast, the United Kingdom chose a different route, imposing a television licence fee on owners of television reception equipment, to fund the BBC, which had public service as part of its Royal Charter. The development of cable and satellite means of distribution in the 1970s pushed businessmen to target channels towards a certain audience, and enabled the rise of subscription-based television channels, such as HBO and Sky. Television has grown up all over the world, enabling every country to share aspects of their culture and society with others. (Wikepedia)

Book Review and Summary: Trip to Quiapo by Ricky Lee

“Literature was not born the day when a boy crying ‘wolf, wolf’ came running out of the Neanderthal valley with a big gray wolf at his heels. Literature was born on the day when a boy came crying ‘wolf, wolf’ and there was no wolf behind him.”
